Churches of Christ seem to be catching on to the missional movement. The larger movement is associated with a resurgent understanding of the church as a community of people who participate in God’s mission in the world. While the idea has caught on in the abstract, putting it into practice – shifting communities of faith from being worship service-oriented to participation-oriented – remains fuzzy. An ongoing theme of many posts at Rampant Theology will start to engage this ambiguity, pointing out resources for churches and ministers and highlighting stories of others who have found success in this endeavor.
Two leaders in this movement in Churches of Christ are Jonathan Storment of Highland Church of Christ (Abilene, TX) and Josh Ross of Sycamore View Church of Christ (Memphis, TN). Today Storment posted an interview he had with Ross on what that process has looked like at Sycamore View.
